Hats and kites soar on Easter morning
Yesterday, at Malchijah’s Hats on Atlantic Avenue in Crown Heights, they were busy designing fancy head ware for Easter morning.
Sunday come. Some churches gone. Bloomberg’s edict against worship in public schools takes its toll.
Sunday was a day of invocation, offering, prayer, singing, preaching and even lament, but no building consecrations. Unless the city government changes its policy, it was the last day for religious groups to worship in New York City schools.
Massive march for fairness to NYC churches
The protest against the city government’s plans to evict churches worshipping in public schools marched across the Brooklyn Bridge yesterday. Comptroller John Liu said, “We have thousands and thousands of people out here walking across Brooklyn Bridge to stand in front of city hall to say we just want fairness.”
